Richmond Neighbourhood
The walk home from Richmond–Brighouse Station runs up No. 3 Road between Saba and Cook, towers on both sides, buses swinging into the loop.
Brighouse is Richmond's downtown core — residential towers and shopping malls. About 27,000 people live here, the median age is in the early forties, and a bit more than half own. Nearly everything for sale is an apartment, usually one or two bedrooms; townhouses are rare, houses rarer.
Richmond–Brighouse Station sits on No. 3 Road between Saba and Cook Roads: Canada Line trains, and a bus loop beside it. The 402 goes to Two Road, the 404 to Four Road, the 410 to 22nd Street Station, the 430 to Metrotown Station.
No. 3 Road is the spine here, with the malls along it, and the station is a short walk from shopping and a theatre. For dinner near the station there's Cactus Club Cafe Richmond.
The station is also within walking distance of a park and community centres. For off-leash running, McDonald Beach Dog Park at the north end of Sea Island has a long sandy beach on the Fraser River, big open fields and a walking path.
The public schools inside the boundary are William Cook Elementary at 8600 Cook Rd and Continuing Ed SD 38 at 7811 Granville Ave. Check the Richmond school district's school locator against the exact address before you count on a catchment.
