Vancouver Neighbourhood
The walk home down Kerrisdale's residential streets under the big old trees, with the pool on West Boulevard a few blocks off.
Kerrisdale is a west side neighbourhood of about 12,000 people, with a median age in the late forties. Half the homes are owned and half are rented. Houses are most of what comes up for sale, then apartments, then townhouses.
Of the homes for sale, four-bedroom-and-up places far outnumber one-bedrooms. The housing is mostly single-family detached, in Craftsman, Tudor and Spanish Colonial styles, on streets lined with grand old trees.
Kerrisdale Village is the shopping strip, a mix of older locally-owned shops, newer shops, cafés, eateries and food markets. Coffee is Adonia Teahouse. Groceries are Super Produce at 2183 W 41st Avenue.
Kerrisdale Community Centre is at 5851 West Boulevard, one of Vancouver's first. Indoor pool, ice rink, gymnasium, exercise room, public library, seniors wing. The rink is Kerrisdale Cyclone Taylor Arena, with public skate.
Public schools inside the boundary: Maple Grove Elementary on Cypress Street, Kerrisdale Elementary on Carnarvon Street, Quilchena Elementary on Maple Street, Kerrisdale Annex on 43rd Avenue West, Magee Secondary on Maple Street, Point Grey Secondary on East Boulevard. Crofton House and St Regis Secondary are independent. Check the school board map for your exact address.
