Vancouver Neighbourhood
Saturday starts with the seawall at Charleson Park, dogs off leash on the open grass, city towers across the water, boats moving out toward Granville Island.
False Creek is a waterfront neighbourhood of about 14,600 people, with a median age in the low forties and ownership and renting split close to evenly. What comes up for sale is nearly all apartments, with a handful of townhouses and no houses. One- and two-bedroom homes make up most of it.
The 50 bus runs between Waterfront Station and False Creek South, which makes the trip downtown short and uncomplicated.
Granville Island sits at the edge of the neighbourhood, with its public market, restaurants and coffee shops.
Charleson Park is the green space people actually use: open grass, ponds, city views, a designated off-leash area, and the seawall right at its edge. False Creek Community Centre is at 1318 Cartwright Street, with a pool, an ice rink, a fitness centre, tennis, and canoeing and kayaking.
False Creek Elementary, the public elementary school, sits inside the neighbourhood at 900 School Green. Henry Hudson and Tennyson elementaries are a short distance away. Catchments go by address, so check the school board map for the exact one.
